RAINFORESTS
This unit is a stage 3 HSIE unit. It provides opportunities for students to investigate a rainforest environment in Australia, highlighting ecological sustainability. The unit emphasises the skills of synthesising information and evaluating the values contained in a variety of viewpoints. It focuses on comparing environmental patterns in Australia with other places in the world.
In the library program, students complete a research project based around the unit of work. This unit's research project revolves around rainforests of the world. Students create a Keynote document. Each week, they add a new slide to their document, based around a new focus question. The questions also align with the 6 steps of the Information Skills process: Defining, Locating, Selecting, Organising, Presenting and Assessing.
