ME/OUR FAMILIES
This is a cross stage COGS unit for early stage 1 and stage 1. During this unit, students develop an understanding of who they are by exploring what they have in common with others, and what is unique. They learn about cultural characteristics that people share, as well as the different social and cultural experiences of families and communities. They discuss memories and how possessions can remind them of important people or events.
In the library program, the students focus on a number of texts suggested in the COGs outline and complete a variety of literacy activities based on these texts. There is a strong Aboriginal perspective throughout the unit. Students are also introduced to library rules and procedures, in order to help them use the library effectively.
