What are we going to learn?
This unit is called Get Along. We are going to read, listen to and watch lots of stories about different characters and the relationships they have with others. We are going to talk about what makes a situation safe or unsafe. We are also going to talk about ways we can communicate with others and the responsibilities that we might have.
The Lessons
** You will need the worksheets to complete each activity. **
1. After reading "My Dearest Dinosaur", pretend that you are the character called "Cheeky One." Write a letter to the dearest dinosaur, telling him about your adventures.
2. After reading "Little Red Riding Hood", discuss when Little Red Riding Hood was safe and when she was in danger. Suggest some rules that Little Red Riding Hood should have followed to stay safe.
3. We are going to turn the story "Three Billy Goats Gruff" into a readers' theatre. In a small group, practise reading the short script using lots of expression.
4. After reading "The Boss" by Alan Baillie, write a narrative that outlines the actions of the character 'The Boss' on the following day.
5. Read the big book "Johnny Cakes". Then, write a procedural text to explain how to make Johnny Cakes.
6. Read the book "Ish" by Peter H Reynolds. Then, complete the comprehension questions and draw your own "ish" drawings for the suggested topics.
