What are we going to learn?
This unit is called Working Together. We are going to look at different ways that people cooperate and help each other. We'll start by looking at the rights and responsibilities that each of us has. Then we'll look at different volunteer groups and see what services they offer in the community. Last of all, we'll look at the local government. We'll see who looks after the area where we live, the different things they do to help and suggest ways to solve a community problem.

The Lessons
1. Create the terms "rights" and "responsibility" in your own words.
2. Create an iMovie that shows your own ideas for people’s rights and responsibilities. The final piece of work must have: at least 3 rights and 3 responsibilities, but can have more. It should also have music and can also include pictures or photos. You must edit your work.
3. Define the terms "volunteer" and "voluntary organisation" in your own words.
4. Brainstorm a list of voluntary organisations and create a mind map.
5. Using either websites or reference books, find 5-10 facts about the voluntary organisation of your own choice.
6. Select one of the volunteer groups in the local area and create an advertisement for your local radio, newspaper or council website saying why people should join this group. The ad must show what the group does and why it is important to the community. The advertisement could be in the form of a cartoon, movie or poster.
7. Use the local council website to create a list of our local government representatives and local services.
