BOOK WEEK
In 2013, Book Week is from 17th - 23rd August. The theme for this year is "Read Across the Universe."

There are lots of great websites that have Book Week ideas and activities.
Mrs Mac's Library: This is a collection of lots of resources for teaching the shortlisted titles - including book trailers, teaching notes, programs and activities. There are also links to other websites.

Lessons
K-2 classes are introduced to the Early Childhood shortlisted titles. A different story is read each week, with a corresponding activity as appropriate.
3-6 classes are introduced to the Picture Book shortlisted titles. A different story is read each week, with activities chosen from the grid below.
All classes complete work on the Book Week theme.
A day of Book Week activities is held during Book Week itself, involving a book character parade, rotating activity sessions and a presentation session.

Activity Grid
This grid has been designed for students from years 3-6. It is based on Bloom's Taxonomy and Gardner's Multiple Intelligences. After reading one of the shortlisted titles, choose an activity from the grid. Try to complete as many activities as you can from a variety of different columns. You can download the grid here.
